Location
The Fiji Islands lies on the 180 Meridian where the dawning of each new day occurs.

Latitude: 12 degrees - 21 degrees South and
Longitude: 176 degrees East - 178 degrees West
Fiji has a total land area of 18,272 square kilometres. Of the 300 islands that make up the Fiji Islands, only a 100 or so islands are inhabited and the rest are left as nature reserves. The two main islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, collectively make up 85% of the total land mass.
Climate
Fiji enjoys a year round tropical climate. May to September are our cooler months with temperatures averaging 25 - 26 degrees Celsius during the day and around 20 degrees at night. The warmer months are December - April normally have temperatures averaging 30 degrees Celsius.

Language
English is the official language. However both the main vernaculars Fijian and Hindustani are widely spoken amongst the population. Most Fiji Islanders are bilingual.
Dress
Generally casual, however evening dining may require shoes and something slightly more formal. Skimpy beachwear is frowned on outside the resorts, on local beaches or in towns. It is respectable to wear modest dress in towns and rural areas.
Currency
Fiji Dollar is the local currency. Major credit cards are accepted at resorts and hotels.
Tipping
Tipping is not encouraged in Fiji and is left to the individual to determine whether to make a gratuity.
Visas and Health
Fiji welcomes visitors and to facilitate easy entry, everything has been done to make the process as pleasant as possible. A valid passport for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay and a ticket for return or onward travel is required.
